The Maldives is 3 hours ahead of South Africa, although some islands that are on ‘island time’ are 1 or 2 hours ahead of Male.

What must I pack?

You will more than likely fly by seaplane from the mainland to reach your final destination island in the Maldives. Be sure to check what the seaplane luggage allowance is before you pack your bags.
The Maldives enjoys a year-round warm, tropical climate, and you will spend most of your time in and around the sea, so beachwear is a must. Pack lightweight, breathable clothing with a dressier outfit or two for dinners – think laidback luxury.
The Maldives is a Muslim country, and it is considered respectful to dress conservatively, especially around the airport, Male and small villages (you won't need to worry too much about it in your resort, as there are mostly tourists around). Pack a large scarf to wear over your shoulders and bring at least one pair of loose trousers or a long skirt or dress.
As for shoes, some resorts have a "no shoes, no news" policy, which means you get to spend your holiday in barefoot luxury.
Don't leave home without sunscreen, lip balm, hat, and sunglasses.
